The CW wrote this to the press: ‘The CW have made the strategic marketing decision not to screen 90210 for any media in advance of its premiere. We’re not hiding anything … simply keeping a lid on 90210 until 9.02, riding the curiosity and anticipation into premiere night, and letting all our constituents see it at the same time.”
This doesn’t sound good!! 90210 has had a problem every week and I really hope that it does well. I love Gossip Girl and hope this will be just as entertaining. Tori Spelling’s status appeared to change with each news cycle. For now she’s out. This leaves only Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty from the original. Shannen Doherty left the original series in a huff, so she’s not exactly reliable. It does BEG for Luke Perry to make a guest visit in the first season.
History teaches that a network never withholds a series unless there are big problems. I can’t recall a single comedy or drama kept from critics that succeeded.
The CW can’t afford to have its reboot of the ’90s teen hit implode. The future of the network, which has become a money pit, might ride on its fate. As it is, the CW could only afford (or chose to afford) eight original hours a week, which really stretches the definition of a network.
